Longing for Eden is motivated by two perspectives:
- A large view of God's overall redemptive purpose for his creation, and for our part in that redemption
- A closer view of someone's heart, understanding the underlying motivations, values, fears, and entitlements that drive their responses
Therefore:
Longing for Eden engages our core desires:
- We long for intimacy with God and each other without shame or pain
- We long for the world around us to be as God originally created it to be
- We long for community with others that is a safe place to develop our hearts
- We long for an eternal sense of purpose and meaning
Longing for Eden recognizes and addresses things that hinder our movement toward redemption:
- Personal and corporate shame
- Emotional chaos and pain
- Relationship crisis and brokenness
- Root sins: pride, idolatry, and unbelief
Longing for Eden provides some resources for the journey toward redemption:
- Recognizing and understanding our driving motivations, values, and emotions
- Understanding how to receive and process revelation
- Mediating chaos and crisis in relationships and communities
- Understanding the paradigm shifts necessary to overcome root sins
- Learning how to listen to the Spirit, and others' hearts, to see their appropriate direction
- Skills for developing holistic leaders
